As a walking tour guide with a particular interest in cultural heritage and natural interpretation, I would like to introduce you to my bespoke Anne Lister Tour of Edinburgh.
As well as a diarist, Anne Lister (1791-1840) was a prolific traveller and that’s how I got to “meet” her. She travelled widely through Scandinavia, Continental Europe and even into Russia, and was quite singular in doing so. She was an adventurer and explorer, always with keen curiosity and fascination, and with meticulous precision for recording her experiences and journeys.
With my unique tour of Edinburgh, you now have the chance to follow in her footsteps throughout the city with her diary entries as our companion.
In May 1828 she travelled by stage coach into our grand city which she explored with her companion, Scottish noblewoman Sibella MacLean. They visited all the major sights and resided within the New Town. Thanks to Anne’s obsession with recording minute details, we can now trace their movements and stitch their story into the fabric of Edinburgh.
With me as your guide, we'll experience Anne's world as we walk the cobbled streets discovering and exploring the city's rich history, bringing Anne and Sibella's unique experiences and observations back to life..
With the easing of restrictions, we can start up tours again. Yay!!!
